Art song provides a deeply personal vehicle for singers to communicate with their audiences. The trust, teamwork, and vulnerability required to perform art songs is unparalleled.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built on the foundation of North Star Music\u2019s successful first publications, Modern Music for New Singers: 21st Century American Art Songs<\/em>, thisnew endeavor will provide performers and teachers with exciting and culturally relevant literature that speaks to our current world climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION AND SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Composers of all ages are eligible to submit their original songs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Composers may submit no more than 4 songs in total.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. There is no fee for submission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. DEADLINE: October 1, 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Eligible works must adhere to the following criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Original works by the composer for 1 singer\u00a0and piano<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • All texts must be written by a living poet<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Composed no earlier than 2010<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Preference will be giving to songs and\/or poetry composed since 2020<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • For previously published songs, upload a letter of express permission for use from the publisher<\/li>\n\n\n\n
