It is a setting of two poems by Muriel Rukeyser, including two lines from \u201cThe Poem as Mask: Orpheus\u201d and the entirety of \u201cRecovering\u201d. The second poem is framed by a musical quotation which brings out an inner voice and modifies the opening of J. S. Bach\u2019s chorale,\u00a0<em>Es ist das Heil uns kommen her<\/em>\u00a0(Now is to Us Salvation Come).<\/p>\n<p>Jan Heller Levi, in\u00a0<em>A Remembrance of Muriel Rukeyser (1913-1980)<\/em>\u00a0published in the\u00a0<em>Sarah Lawrence College Bulletin<\/em>\u00a0May 1980, wrote that \u201cMuriel, like no one else, proved to us that recovery\u2014recovery of what has been lost or what has been denied us\u2014is the true work of poetry and of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_7-divioverlays_987509764  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Text<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_8-divioverlays_987509764  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<p>. . .
