Douglas Fisk
Douglas Fisk (b. Bryn Mawr, PA) is a composer and pianist based in New York. His music has been presented in concerts by artists including conductor Darrell Ang; members of the New York New Music Ensemble; percussionists Gwendolyn Dease, Ayano Kataoka, and Ian David Rosenbaum; vocalists Malcolm Merriweather, Vince B. Vincent, Ryan Cox, Annie Rosen, Megan Ihnen, and Liz Pearse; flutists Daniel Alexander, Gina Izzo, and Conor Nelson; violinists Ye-jin Han and Calvin Wiersma; bassist Eleonore Oppenheim; Sospiro Winds; Washington Square Winds; and Immer Neu.
He has received grants/commissions from Michigan State University; the Urbana, Illinois Public Arts Commission; and the Queens (NY) Council on the Arts.
Recent recognitions include selection by the Locrian Chamber Players for performance of his work, selection into the Chicago Ensemble’s Discover America IX concert series, selection for performance through the 2nd annual One Ounce Opera: Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Art Song call for scores, inclusion in the North Star: Modern Music for New Singers anthology (baritone), inclusion in the NewMusicShelf anthology for new art song (mezzo-soprano), and a New Works Grant from the Queens, NY Council on the Arts.
