Michèal Fiacc

A composer of art songs, pianist, and operatic tenor, Michèal has been involved with song writing since his later teenage years, when he encountered both the pop songs of Elton John and the Hoch-Romantische Lieder of German composer Hugo Wolf.
However, it was only after he had embarked upon an international career as a leading Italian tenor, under the name Michele Fiammardente, that the disparate elements of his musical education and experience came together in a synergistic way to permit him to compose classical art songs of sophistication and complexity with a remarkable instinctive fluency.
In October 2015 he was featured in a special vocal recital sponsored by Empire Opera of New York, centered around singer/composers. As one of 4 composers on the program, he had over an hour of music performed, sang 7 selections himself, including a demanding newer setting of Lewis Carroll’s famous poem from Through the Looking Glass, “Jabberwocky”, and accompanied 3 other songs.
A high point was the debut of a tour-de-force setting of Thomas Hardy’s estimable poem about the sinking of the RMS Titanic, “The Convergence of the Twain,” for basso profundo and piano, which was received very enthusiastically by the audience.
Michèal has continued to compose, and now has approximately 180 songs in his total output. Some recent efforts include more German settings of Rilke, 7 Songs from Die Stimme (The Voices), and some e e cummings, Elinor Wylie, Theodore Roethke and Millay. His latest compilation is a group of 4 Christmas Songs for tenor and piano. A group of seven settings of Rainer Maria Rilke, again in the original German, was published by Classical Vocal Reprints in early 2018.
