Myron Silberstein


Composer Myron Silberstein’s music is featured on Chelsea Hollow’s album Cycles of Resistance and on Laura Strickling’s GRAMMY-nominated album 40@40. He is one of twelve 2023-2024 Fellows in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Mentorship Program for Composers. His catalog of compositions includes five piano sonatas, three sonatas for flute and piano, several other duo-sonatas, numerous songs and song cycles, and an opera. Silberstein’s music prioritizes unabashed emotionalism, melodic and harmonic warmth, and structural rigor, within an idiom both approachable and challenging. His music has been featured at Access Contemporary Music’s Thirsty Ears Festival, at Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago performances, and at Baltimore’s Lieder Weekend. As a pianist, Silberstein’s recordings of solo piano music by overlooked 20th century American composers are available on Toccata Classics, Centaur Records, Naxos, and Connoisseur Society. Myron Silberstein teaches piano at Lake Forest College and Carthage College. He lives in Chicago with his wife Michelle and enjoys cooking, films, and translating Sanskrit.
