Tish Oney

Jazz singer, symphony soloist, composer, and soprano Dr. Tish Oney has headlined on tour with her jazz combos, The Tish Oney Jazz Orchestra, the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, Army Blues and Army Voices, Detroit Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Williamsburg Symphony, Aiken Symphony, and the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, among others. She has taught as a professor of voice, jazz studies, composition, songwriting, choral music, and theory at several institutions of higher education in the U.S. She composes music in jazz, art song, and sacred styles. An expert in multi-genre singing, Dr. Oney teaches professional singers and lectures for the Voice Study Centre (University of Essex, UK) as a jazz voice pedagogy specialist. She presented her research at the 2022 International Congress of Voice Teachers in Vienna, Austria, and frequently appears as master teacher and workshop presenter for NATS and CS Music. In 2022 she published her second internationally acclaimed book, Jazz Singing: A Guide to Pedagogy and Performance, which followed her 2020 bestseller, Peggy Lee: A Century of Song.
